University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), abbreviated as "National University of Science and Technology", with its main campus located in Beijing, is an innovative university with science and education fusion as its mode of operation and postgraduate education as the main body of its operation, and is one of the national "double first-class" construction universities. It is a national "double first-class" university, selected for the "Pilot Program for Cultivating Outstanding Students in Basic Disciplines", a member of the Pacific Rim University Consortium, the Beijing-Hong Kong University Consortium, the Planetary Science Consortium of Chinese Universities, the China-Europa Business Schools Consortium and the first batch of degree authorization independent audit units.

The predecessor of the school is the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), which started to operate on a trial basis in 1963; in 1978, the school was officially established with the name of Graduate School of the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), the first graduate school in New China approved by the Central Committee and State Council of the Communist Party of China (CCPC); after 1982, the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) approved to use the name of Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (GSCS) and Graduate School of the USTC at the same time. In December 2000, the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council and the Ministry of Education approved the name of the school as the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; in 2005, the School of Management and Cadres of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was incorporated; in June 2012, the name was changed to the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) with the approval of the Ministry of Education and in 2014, it began to admit undergraduates. 


As of December 2023, the university consists of four campuses in Beijing (Yuquanlu, Zhongguancun, Olympic Village, Yanqi Lake), five educational bases outside Beijing (Shanghai, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Lanzhou) and 113 training units throughout the country; 75 teaching and research units, including 46 faculties and departments, and 29 other kinds of scientific and educational institutions; 49 first-level doctoral programs, 57 first-level master's programs, and 15 undergraduate majors. There are 49 first-degree doctoral programs, 57 first-degree master's programs and 15 undergraduate majors; 13,186 graduate instructors on duty in each training unit, including 8,482 doctoral supervisors (including 278 academicians of the two academies); 1,660 undergraduates and 59,985 postgraduates; and 1,957 foreign students, including 1,292 foreign doctoral students.
